Follow these steps to build, connect, test, and understand series and parallel circuits.
Select an optional template, or drag a battery and other components from the left tray onto the empty board.
Drag each component to any position. Leave enough space so wires and branches are easy to see.
Press a colored terminal, drag the glowing wire to another terminal, and release. Continue until the battery has a complete return path.
Watch the connection message, lamp brightness, moving charges, meter readings, current graph, resistance, and power.
Change voltage and resistance, open or close the switch, compare series with parallel, and click a wire if you need to cut it.
Add one battery, one switch, an ammeter, and two loads such as a lamp and resistor.
Connect each component end-to-end. Do not create branches.
The last component must connect back to the unused battery terminal.
Keep the ammeter inside the single path. Connect the voltmeter across the lamp if you want its voltage drop.
Add a battery, switch, and ammeter. Connect them to create the supply side of the circuit.
Use one point where current divides and another where the branches join again.
Place the lamp on one branch and a resistor or second lamp on another branch.
Join both branches at the return junction, pass through the switch, and connect to the other battery terminal.
Connect in series so the branch current passes through it. Never connect it directly across the battery.
Connect in parallel across the component being measured. Its two terminals should touch the two sides of that component.
